Layer: Plat3mileLimit (ID: 17)

Name: Plat3mileLimit

Display Field: Jurisdiciton

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon

Description: SDCL 11-6-26 provides for a three mile jurisdiction for approving subdivision plats around cities. Where two such cities are within three miles of each other, a line must be drawn equidistant between them. This map layer shows the equidistant line between Rapid City and Box Elder. Additionally, it shows the effect of the three mile buffer around the town of Summerset, even though that town has not yet adopted a three mile platting ordinance. SDCL 9-4-14 provides for a 1-1/4 mile jurisdiction around municipal airports, less any land already within another municipal boundary when the law was adopted. This map layer shows the 1-1/4 mile boundary around the Rapid City airport property, less those areas already annexed by Box Elder. This 1-1/4 area supercedes both the 3 mile buffer and the equidistant line. This map layer shows the combination of 3 mile butters, equidistant lines, and 1-1/4 airport buffer.
